sadness

I'm already ahead on my posts but it looks like I won't be getting my tattoo in time for this weeks posts. But I should have a post on Piercings done tonight and it will be uploaded by friday morning if anyone wants to read it I really wanted to get this tattoo this week. hopefully I can get it over the weekend(crossing my fingers). Just wanted to say if you are looking for a good tattoo shop go to underground art I love that place. they are a little expensive $125/hr but you pay for professional work that is not mass produced. Also if you bring in a new kids book not one your little brother or sister have drawn in you should get 13% off your price. That deal is only for Jan and Feb they are doing a book drive.

P.S. If you can't afford those prices there are plenty of copy and paste mass produced shops by the school where you can always get the same tattoo someone else has.

Virtues??

I didn’t plan on posting another blog post before the Thursday due date, but I guess that plans don’t always go as planned. I went to my philosophy class today in hopes of seeing just who this professor was that had canceled every one of my classes so far. I went expecting to see an aging professor struggling to manage, since classes were canceled twice because he had a sore throat from a lecture he gave the week before at a conference. But was surprisingly greeted by a professor who looked to be no older than 25.
I didn’t start this post to talk about how my professor was younger that I thought he would be, this post is about how he blew my mind. I walked in to the class a few minutes late and he was already knee deep in an energetic lecture on morals, ethics, virtues, and what’s right and wrong.  He started with Nazi Germany in the 1930’s what was right then was to report anyone with Jewish blood to the government so that they could be sent to concentration camps. Was that the right thing to do? Yes and No could be the answer to that, for them that was the right thing, and what needed to be done. But to the others it was a monstrous act that they should have been ashamed of. But the same thing could be said of America in its early days; this land we call home is stolen and covered with blood. Before we found this land it belonged to the Native Americans, we killed and pushed them farther away west until we decided we wanted that land too. Then we put them on reserves, and tell them that it is their land but in the grand scheme of things is less than fair to them.  That can from the outside be look on in the same manner we look at Nazi Germany.
Number of Jews killed during the holocaust 5,709,329 number of Native Americans killed between  10 and 114 million.
But what really blew my mind was when he asked what is virtuous. He said “If I pulled out a gun and blew away a random student when class started that would be morally wrong. But if I didn’t does that make me virtuous! No it just means I didn’t kill someone for no reason and that something most people can say. So what makes someone virtuous?” I had no answer, the class sat in awe of what he just said.
So I pose the same question to you. What make someone virtuous if doing what is right makes you normal?

p.s. I will still be writing my other post this week but was just something I had to say.

this week's preview

Preview I say this like I have a major audience hanging on every word I type looking to see what I have to say. Ok this week I have one post in general I want to have covered and that is tattoos yes one of my favorite subjects. And to make things more interesting I am getting another tattoo done to show my commitment to diving head first into my subject. And before I get a millions questions asking if I'm getting it on my head, No I am not. If I am able to get it before class on thursday then I will show it to everyone. I don't want to post it if I haven't got it yet so if that does happen my post on wednesday is going to be about piercings and my nose piercing which I removed and I will also include pictures.

Happy blogging,

Introducing me

Yes I know that introducing me is a song by Nick Jonas but that is the best way to describe this post. It is my intro into the world of blogging, which is about as close to me as the earth is to the sun. I could honestly say that I would never expect that I would ever be here now typing out a blog post.

My name is John Homer i'm a 18 year old computer science major and one of the most random people you might ever meet. I try to stray from the everyday and try new things, just to see how they work out for me. I can be classified as a gamer, but I would prefer game  enthusiast.  I'm a religious person, but I find that I lose sight of my path sometimes.  I love music and any form of self expression, and i find the boundaries set by race on what is normal for you to like is annoying. I hate the whole you are this race you should only like this, sort of game that old school parents like to put into the minds of their children. My outlook is lets be ourselves and not what others want or believe we should be.

I have a problem with sticking to one thing for very long in writing. Narrow themes that come and go in my life won’t keep me occupied very long in writing. So for this blog I have chosen to write about much more than just if we should legalize weed or not. I’m aiming for the topics that hit home with me and the student body, all the different fads and habits shown by students. But I’m not just going to research and give facts, I’m going to dive head first into the college sub-culture.
Because if this is my voice I should raise it as loud as it can go. And make sure that I can be heard clearly. So get ready for post on tattoos, piercing, drinking, smoking, and even more of what goes on in the life of a college student. Because who can tell it better than a college student.

This course is going to rock almost as hard as my favorite rockband Guns N' Roses. The professor is off the wall but in a good way. If this is how the class is going to start I can't wait for the rest.
